Pentagon: Trump Issues Directive to Send More Defensive Weapons to Ukraine
SadaNews - The Pentagon announced that it will send weapons to Ukraine under the direction of President Donald Trump, who stated they are primarily "defensive weapons".
In a statement on the U.S. Department of Defense website, it mentioned that it will send more "defensive weapons" to Ukraine under President Trump's directive, as confirmed by spokesperson Sean Parnell.
The statement published on the U.S. Department of Defense website read: "Under President Trump's directive, the department is sending additional defensive weapons to Ukraine to enable the Ukrainian people to defend themselves while we continue to work toward establishing lasting peace and stopping the killing".
The statement added: "Trump had previously pledged to send more weapons to Ukraine, confirming that the focus would be primarily on defensive equipment".
It is worth noting that on July 2, the "New York Times" reported that the United States would suspend the shipment of interceptors for the "Patriot" missile defense systems, precision munitions GMLRS, guided "Hellfire" missiles, portable "Stinger" missile systems, and a number of other weapons to Ukraine.
