
Israeli Army Announces Arrest of "Cell" in Southern Syria Operated by Iran
SadaNews - Field sources in Syria reported that a force from the Israeli occupation army arrested 3 Syrian citizens from the village of Al-Basali in the Quneitra countryside, after its incursion there early Wednesday morning.
The Syrian News Channel clarified that an Israeli occupation patrol consisting of 8 vehicles and about 40 soldiers arrested 3 individuals from the village of Al-Basali during its incursion early this morning.
For its part, the occupation army stated that its forces "arrested several members of what it described as a terrorist cell deployed by Iran in southern Syria, during a raid that took place last night."
The occupation army claimed in a statement that "the cell was operating in two sites near the border with Israel and was targeted based on intelligence information that had been gathered over the past weeks. During the operation, the forces found weapons, including firearms and grenades in the area." It pointed out that the sites were located in the Um al-Luqos and Ain Al-Basali areas in southern Syria.
It also affirmed in its statement that it "will continue its efforts to thwart the establishment of terrorist groups linked to Iran in Syria, especially near the Israeli border."
Israeli media reported that the Israeli army arrested 4 individuals during the operation based on intelligence information.
