Russia: Discovery of Ukrainian Chemical Bombs for Drones in Donetsk

SadaNews - The Russian Federal Security Service announced the discovery of a Ukrainian army cache in the Donetsk Republic containing improvised bombs for drones packed with the banned toxic combat agent chloropicrin.

The security service clarified in an official statement that the cache was revealed in cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Defense near the village of Yelenka in the Kurakhove region.

Explosive devices designed for deployment from drones were found, containing explosive materials (plastite) and toxic combat materials made of chloropicrin, which is prohibited under the international chemical weapons convention.

The statement added that the investigative department of the Federal Security Service opened a criminal investigation based on this incident under Article 355 of the Russian Criminal Code, which pertains to the development, manufacturing, storage, possession, or sale of weapons of mass destruction.

Use of Chemical Weapons by Ukrainian Forces in Donetsk

In May of last year, a laboratory for the production of cyanide was found at sites abandoned by Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk People's Republic, and in October, a cache containing chloropicrin was discovered. Later this year, two caches containing munitions equipped with chloropicrin for drones were found.

Ukrainian forces continue to use internationally banned warfare methods by employing chemical weapons, violating the United Nations Convention. As Russian forces advance on the ground, these inhumane activities are escalating.

Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to this issue during the general session of the 28th International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.
