Palestinian Banking Institute Graduates Financial and Banking Arbitration Diploma
SadaNews - The Palestinian Banking Institute held a graduation ceremony for participants of the Financial and Banking Arbitration Diploma, attended by His Excellency the Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Banking Institute, Yahya Shanar, Minister of Justice, Advisor Sharhabil Al-Za'im, along with the President of the Palestinian Arbitrators Association, Nashet Tahboub, General Director of the Palestinian Banking Institute, Dr. Akram Hamdan, and Director of the Banks Association in Palestine, Bashar Yassin, in addition to several diploma trainers and representatives of partner institutions.
Participants completed a specialized program developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and the Palestinian Arbitrators Association, aimed at qualifying cadres capable of managing and settling financial and banking disputes through a blend of legal knowledge and practical application, including understanding banking contracts, drafting arbitration agreements, and managing their procedures. The program targeted professionals in the financial and legal sectors, preparing them to sit for the certified arbitrator exam by the Ministry of Justice.
During his speech at the ceremony, the Governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority affirmed that financial and banking arbitration represents an effective tool in supporting the stability of the banking sector by efficiently and swiftly settling disputes, reducing legal and operational risks, thereby enhancing the resilience of financial institutions and the confidence of clients, especially in light of current economic challenges.
He highlighted the importance of investing in qualifying specialized competencies to keep pace with the evolution of financial transactions, noting that the program contributes to establishing a more transparent financial environment and strengthening the principles of justice and the rule of law in banking transactions, expressing appreciation for the partnership with the Ministry of Justice, the Palestinian Arbitrators Association, and the Palestinian Banking Institute in implementing the program.
For his part, Minister of Justice, Advisor Sharhabil Al-Za'im, confirmed that the Financial and Banking Arbitration Diploma is an important step towards enhancing the alternative justice system in Palestine, emphasizing the importance of arbitration as an effective means for dispute resolution, particularly in specialized sectors. He added that the ministry is keen on qualifying professional arbitrators who possess competence and experience, thus enhancing trust in arbitration procedures and reinforcing the principles of justice and the rule of law, confirming the ministry's ongoing support for such programs.
Moreover, the President of the Palestinian Arbitrators Association, Mr. Nashet Tahboub, stated that the program is part of the association's efforts to promote and disseminate arbitration culture as an effective means for dispute resolution, encompassing various sectors, especially financial and banking sectors, pointing out its contribution to preparing qualified cadres capable of addressing specialized issues with high competence and professionalism.
In turn, the General Director of the Palestinian Banking Institute, Dr. Akram Hamdan, confirmed that the program aligns with the institute's vision to develop professional competencies in the financial and legal sectors through specialized training programs that link theoretical and practical aspects and contribute to building capacities that support the stability of the financial sector.
