The General Syndicate of Gas Companies Discusses Sector Crisis and Calls for Fairness for Workers

SadaNews: The General Syndicate of Gas Companies held an emergency meeting on Saturday to discuss the state of the sector amidst the wave of price increases that began at the start of this month. The meeting came at a sensitive time, as stations and agents face increasing challenges due to rising transportation costs and profit margins, in addition to the difficulty of continuing to transport cylinders and liquefied gas following the significant rise in fuel prices.

During the discussion, attendees addressed all issues related to the sector's work, affirming through the syndicate the commitment of the stations to the unified pricing issued by the Petroleum Authority, ensuring the continuity of work and preventing exploitation and smuggling. However, participants emphasized that this pricing does not cover some essential services such as delivery and transporting cylinders from the station to agents, which creates a gap in price regulation and increases the burdens on workers.

The syndicate urged the government, particularly the Minister of Finance, to respond to the sector's demands and conduct a comprehensive analysis of current prices in a way that ensures fairness for stations and agents and preserves the rights of all. Attendees called for an adjustment of profit margins and the regulation of liquefied gas prices, emphasizing that continuing work under these exorbitant costs has become nearly impossible after the increase in fuel and gas prices.

Despite the difficult circumstances, the syndicate expressed its immediate willingness to enter into dialogue with the Ministry of Finance and the General Petroleum Authority, seeking to reach an agreement that ensures the rights of all parties and restores balance to the gas sector.

"It is not possible to continue working under these exorbitant costs," was how attendees concluded their meeting, considering this statement encapsulates the magnitude of the crisis and highlights the urgent need for immediate government intervention.
