Sudden Rise in the Value of the Dollar Against the Shekel

SadaNews Economic Translation - The US dollar has unexpectedly risen against the Israeli shekel amid reports indicating an increasing likelihood of an attack on Iran.

According to the Hebrew economic newspaper Calcalist, as translated by SadaNews' Economics section, the dollar rose by 0.2%, currently trading at around 3.13 shekels, while the euro rose by 0.6% to reach 3.68 shekels.

In global markets, the euro fell by 0.1% against the dollar, currently trading above $1.17, while the British pound recorded a decline of 0.2%, trading above $1.34.

The dollar index, which measures the currency's value against a basket of major currencies, rose by 0.2% to reach 97.9 points.

Recently, the United States has deployed a significant military presence in the Middle East, concentrating the largest air power in the region since the Iraq invasion in 2003.

The US government, led by President Donald Trump, warned that reaching an agreement with Iran would be "extremely wise.

This comes amid reports that the White House is considering taking new military action against Tehran as soon as possible, perhaps by the end of this week.
