Pal Gas Organizes Workshop on the Risks of Liquefied Gas and Safe Handling Methods

SadaNews - Pal Gas for Distribution and Services, in partnership with the Palestinian Civil Defense and the Consumer Protection Association, organized an awareness workshop titled "Risks of Liquefied Gas and Safe Handling Methods."

The workshop aimed to enhance community awareness of the risks associated with liquefied gas and the best practices for safe handling, through the presentation of specialized scientific materials covering safety and prevention aspects. This event is part of the partners' efforts to enhance public safety and protect consumers, especially given the wide reliance on gas in homes and commercial and industrial establishments.
Commenting on the organization of the workshop, Pal Gas General Manager Eng. Atiya Al-Ramahi said: "We believe at Pal Gas that safety is not just a legal obligation, but a moral responsibility towards every Palestinian family. This workshop is a testament to the fact that this is a shared responsibility between the company, regulatory authorities, and the consumers themselves," noting that the goal of such workshops is to reduce accidents and promote awareness of safe handling methods for liquefied gas.

For his part, the Director of the Palestinian Civil Defense in Ramallah and Al-Bireh, Eng. Feras Qoqas, stated: "We prioritize public safety at the Civil Defense, especially regarding the use of liquefied petroleum gas, as it poses risks if safety procedures are not adhered to." He emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships involving the private sector, the Petroleum Authority, the Standards and Metrology Institution, and the Consumer Protection Association, as essential elements in enhancing community awareness and protecting citizens while reducing accidents.

On his part, the President of the Consumer Protection Association, Salah Hania, stated: "We appreciate the efforts of Pal Gas and the Palestinian Civil Defense in organizing this awareness workshop, as it plays a significant role in enhancing public safety," noting the importance of the gas sector in Palestine, especially concerning the gas cylinders circulating in the local market and the necessity for them to comply with public safety principles. He also called for clear laws and regulations to organize the gas sector in Palestine, ensuring consumer protection and enhancing oversight of this vital sector.

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants recommended the need to work on issuing a Palestinian code specifically for gas that covers various stages of the supply chain, including storage, distribution, installation, and maintenance, contributing to the standardization of safety criteria, reducing risks, and enhancing oversight and regulation of this vital sector.

Approximately 80 participants from various sectors attended the workshop, including representatives from government and civil institutions, representatives from Palestinian universities and municipalities, safety supervisors in factories and industrial establishments, housewives from local women's associations, in addition to public relations officials in security agencies.

It is worth mentioning that Pal Gas is a leading provider of quality gas services in Palestine and the largest outlet for liquefied gas supply networks and systems for major companies, institutions, and facilities across various sectors. The company has enhanced its comprehensive services to include commercial, industrial, agricultural, and residential sectors. Pal Gas was founded in 1996 as a private company to fill gas cylinders in the northern West Bank before expanding its operations later to include providing central gas services to residential complexes and various establishments.
