The Ministry of Economy Warns Against Exploiting the Suffering of Gaza Residents Through Dangerous Practices

SadaNews - The Ministry of National Economy issued a press statement stating that "since the beginning of the ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, it has been continuously and responsibly monitoring the economic situation and commercial activity in the sector, in coordination with the relevant official authorities and private sector institutions working in Gaza, under exceptional and complex conditions imposed by aggression and blockade."

The ministry indicated that its follow-ups have revealed "dangerous practices represented in the exploitation of the suffering of the people by some parties (individuals and merchants), imposing exorbitant fees for allowing goods under what is termed 'coordination,' in clear violation of laws, norms, and national and humanitarian ethics, which ultimately increases the suffering of the Palestinian citizen, who is groaning under the weight of war."

The Ministry of National Economy confirmed that it has compiled and documented all information and data pertaining to these parties, and is dealing with them according to legal and regulatory procedures as per the norms, ensuring the integrity of the legal process, safeguarding the public interest, and preventing any implicated party from evading accountability, especially given the exceptional circumstances that Gaza, and Palestine in general, is going through.

The ministry emphasized that actions are not taken merely through media statements, but through legal and official pathways that are fully established. It confirms that anyone found complicit will be held accountable, and no wrongdoer will escape punishment under the law, at a time that ensures a deterrent effect and protects the community. In this context, the ministry issues a direct warning to anyone engaging in such practices: to immediately cease exploiting the Palestinian people.

It added: "We place the interest of the citizen above all else, and it assures that it bears its full responsibilities, and will continue to work with firmness and responsibility, ensuring the protection of the Palestinian citizen and the national economy, and holding accountable anyone who profits from the suffering of our people, without leniency."
