Palestine Stock Exchange Launches First Applied Competition of Its Kind in the Region for An-Najah University Students

SadaNews Economy - Today, the Palestine Stock Exchange, in cooperation with the Faculty of Business and Communication at An-Najah National University, launched the first version of its applied competition "Your Stock Exchange in Your University... Learn and Trade", in a move aimed at enhancing financial literacy among university students and providing them with a practical experience to engage in securities trading and understand the working mechanisms within listed companies.

The competition targets 30 male and female students from various specializations, distributed into five groups, each functioning as an independent virtual company that will undertake a series of management and investment challenges under the direct supervision of the exchange and the faculty. This version represents a starting point towards expanding the program to all Palestinian universities in the near future.

Commenting on the launch of the competition, the General Director of the Palestine Stock Exchange, Nihad Kamal, confirmed that this experience will be the first of its kind at the level of regional monetary markets, as it allows students to engage in actual trading in the market alongside challenges that enrich their investment decisions, hoping that this competition will be a launching point to generalize this experience across all Palestinian universities for the benefit of a broader student base.

He added that the competition includes intensive training on how to establish public shareholding companies, the mechanisms for listing them on the exchange, in addition to managing board meetings and public entities. The challenges also extend to include analyzing the performance of listed companies and their stocks.

For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication at An-Najah National University, Dr. Raef Jallad, confirmed that this competition represents a starting point towards applied financial education that places the student at the heart of the real market. At the Faculty of Business and Communication, we believe that the future is made through experience, not rote learning, and therefore we strive to transform classrooms into real simulation environments for the world of investment and business.

Jallad indicated that the faculty, in recent years, has built a wide network of cooperation with financial and banking sector institutions, which has clearly reflected on the quality of training initiatives and increased employment and practical training opportunities for students, affirming that this competition is not a passing event, but the beginning of a comprehensive practical academic path that aligns with the requirements of the digital financial revolution and future market skills.

He concluded by saying: What we are witnessing today is not a university event, but a strategic step towards education that opens opportunities and creates leaders for the economy of the future.
