
The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority Holds Its 20th Session and Discusses Organizational and Executive Plans for the Coming Period
SadaNews - The Board of Directors of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority held its twentieth session, chaired by Dr. Murad Abu Sabih, in the presence of the Authority's Executive Director, Engineer Laith Draghmeh. The session discussed a number of vital regulatory and technical issues that fall within the Authority's plan for the second half of 2025, and the extended executive plan for the years 2025–2027.
The council reviewed the outline of the strategic work plan for the upcoming period, which aims to develop the regulatory framework of the telecommunications sector, enhance service quality, stimulate investment in infrastructure, and study the introduction of new licenses and services.
The session also addressed several regulatory topics, most notably:
- Reviewing call termination rates between local networks (mobile and fixed) to ensure fair competition.
- Discussing the Authority's direction towards preparing regulations for regulatory accounting separation to enhance financial transparency.
- Discussing preliminary drafts of new regulatory guidelines related to the use of fiber optics (FTTH).
- Discussing proposed regulations concerning the organization of value-added services (VAS).
- Updating the instructions for registering mobile SIM cards in line with technological changes according to international best practices.
This meeting comes as part of a series of ongoing steps implemented by the Authority to elevate the sector and enhance the legal and regulatory framework for new and existing services in accordance with international best practices.
