There Is More to Do Than Push the Palestinian People to Suicide
Despite the loss of about a quarter of a million people from Gaza and the destruction of approximately 85% of the enclave, along with its placement under American guardianship, in addition to what is happening in the West Bank, Jerusalem, and refugee camps, one hears, especially from Palestinians living outside Gaza and some Arabs, people talking about the historic victory achieved by Hamas and that Netanyahu lost this war simply because he did not eliminate Hamas!
Although some may have good intentions in this stance, they are coming from a condescending perspective toward our people in Gaza, viewing them as a burden or an encumbrance to the cause, or that they are merely martyr projects to defend Hamas and its leadership and what they call the honor of the nation. Everything that Gaza loses means nothing compared to the continuation of Hamas's rule.
It is true that the terrorist Netanyahu did not achieve all his war objectives, but he targeted Gaza to achieve several strategic goals that go beyond the enclave and Hamas.
His focus on Gaza is due to its being the cradle of Palestinian nationalism, and the people of Gaza historically were at the forefront of launching the contemporary Palestinian revolution and igniting the two intifadas. Thus, the destruction of Gaza was one of Netanyahu's main goals in the war, not the end of Hamas's presence, in addition to utilizing the situation in the enclave to complete his plans in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
We say to those who reduce Palestine and resistance to Hamas and cheer for the guest and the flood of Al-Aqsa and Hamas, demanding that the latter continue fighting and that the people of Gaza endure even if they all die, ignoring the tragedy of the people of Gaza, that there are American embassies in every Arab country, and that America is a partner to Israel in the genocide against Gaza. In some, there are even American bases and Israeli embassies, so why not direct your efforts to peacefully influence your governments to take a firm stance against Washington and normalization, even at the level of summoning the ambassador, instead of limiting yourselves to supporting the Palestinian resistance with slogans and tweets on social media and pushing the Palestinian people towards collective suicide in defense of what you call the honor of the nation and sacred places? If you are unable to close an embassy or military base or expel an American or Israeli ambassador, how can you expect the Palestinian people to win alone against Israel and the United States?
And what will you say after Hamas ceases resistance and accepts Trump's initiative and relinquishes its weapons?
The failure of Hamas does not mean the failure of resistance, but rather the failure of a wrong approach to practicing resistance.
