Between the Announcement of Sharm El-Sheikh and the Security Council's Decision, the Humanitarian Tragedy in Gaza Continues
Day by day, it becomes evident that the announcement made at the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit in October 2025 to "stop the war" was not a station for saving civilians in the Gaza Strip but rather a new chapter in the political exploitation at the expense of the humanitarian tragedy faced by the Palestinians. The Trump administration did not seek to save the people of Gaza from genocide as much as it wanted to ensure the rescue of Israel from its international isolation and to rebuild its regional and international image after its racist crimes were exposed. The announcement of a "ceasefire" represented a political cover to save the government of Tel Aviv more than it was a genuine means to protect civilians. Since the announcement of the truce until today, the airstrikes and killings have not ceased. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza has recorded over 270 martyrs, most of whom are children, in addition to thousands of wounded, while the Strip remains under direct fire.
Continuing Siege of Gaza and the Rafah Crossing
Despite the agreement's stipulation for the immediate operation of the Rafah crossing and other crossings, Israel has continued to shut them all down, including the Rafah crossing, the only crossing that allows some movement of civilians and humanitarian supplies. UN OCHA estimates indicate that what reaches Gaza does not exceed 15-20% of the daily needs for food, medicine, and fuel.
Furthermore, the occupying forces continue to control the Philadelphi Route and hint at the possibility of "canceling the borders" between Gaza and Egypt, transforming the Strip once again into a large prison with fully applied military restrictions and no options for free movement of individuals or trade, which exacerbates the suffering of the people of the Strip and leaves them at the mercy of the occupying army entirely.
Medical Suffering and Preventing the Transfer of Wounded
Under these circumstances, thousands of wounded persons are prevented from traveling to receive treatment outside the Strip. The hospitals, which are operating partially, are barely able to cope with the huge and increasing number of critical cases, including amputations for children and the deaths of patients who did not receive the simplest medications. Additionally, about 25% of the wounded face permanent disabilities due to a lack of medical equipment and the inability to treat complex injuries.
Prisoners, Corpses, and Torture Prisons
While international media focuses on a limited number of recovered Israeli corpses, it overlooks the fate of the Palestinians. Some Palestinian corpses were returned bearing signs of torture, and some suffered organ theft, while over seven hundred bodies that have been held for decades are still preserved in secret graves or the refrigerators of the occupation. Simultaneously, reports continue about torture prisons that exceed the horror witnessed by the world in the Sedim Teyman Prison, where systematic abuses against Palestinian detainees occurred, including unveiled rape scandals.
Winter Exacerbates the Humanitarian Tragedy
With the arrival of winter, the suffering of the families has multiplied. The displaced camps are flooded with rainwater, the tents overflow with water, and the bitter cold is devastating for children, patients, and the elderly, while thousands of families live without any protection amid the ongoing siege and the prevention of humanitarian aid.
Displacement via Ramon Airport
Despite the tightened siege, media and diplomatic reports reveal organized displacement via what is known as Ramon Airport through fictitious and intelligence companies, where dozens of Palestinians have suddenly arrived in South Africa, with news of others going to Estonia, indicating Israel's intention to proceed with silent ethnic cleansing plans, which explains its insistence on maintaining the siege and keeping the Strip deprived of the simplest components of human life.
Settler Terrorism and Ethnic Cleansing in the West Bank
In the West Bank, the saga of settler terrorism against residents in Palestinian villages and towns continues. Settlers, supported officially by the government and military, launch daily targeted attacks against civilians, burning houses, and gradually displacing residents, while Israeli security forces cooperate with them, solidifying a gradual demographic cleansing policy.
Palestinian Division: An Existential Danger
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority is preoccupied with attempts at further monopolization and dominance through superficial changes in ministers and administrations, while Hamas tries to maintain a narrow authority over part of the Strip. This has become a sustained danger to the unity of the national entity and prevents the restoration of collective frameworks for any national project capable of confronting the occupation’s plans, instead providing Israel with an opportunity to gradually dismantle the national entity and encouraging it to pursue its goals in liquidating the Palestinian case and rights.
The U.S. Draft Resolution in the Security Council
Washington is passing a draft resolution in the Security Council under the name of "political solution," but in reality, it aims only to please Israel by sending international forces to the ground to complete what the occupation has failed to implement, and not to protect civilians from its ongoing crimes. The resolution also institutionalizes the division of Gaza into a besieged and devastated West and an East promised conditional reconstruction, while institutionalizing the separation of the Strip from the West Bank and Jerusalem, which undermines the national entity, deepens the political division, and increases the fragmentation of Palestinian representation.
International Solidarity and the Lesson of the Oslo Deception
The most significant achievement resulting from this genocide has been exposing the bloody and racist nature of the Zionist project to the vast majority of the world's peoples, including those in the United States and Western Europe. For the first time, the Zionist narrative has fallen in the face of the river of Palestinian blood and the atrocities of genocide. This is what Washington, Tel Aviv, and some Western governments are trying to contain without a serious addressing of the essence of the conflict, other than mere empty promises reminiscent of what happened after the deception of the Oslo Agreement, misleading the Palestinians and the international community with a path of "peace" that aimed to circumvent the achievements of the first intifada, where the illusion of "peace" was sold in exchange for managing the occupation, which succeeded not only in undermining any chance for a just peace but also in devouring the land and consolidating occupation and settlement. Any similar attempt today needs extreme caution to avoid the repetition of catastrophe, keeping the flame of international solidarity with Gaza alive, transforming it into real political pressure, while developing a unified Palestinian discourse that links the cessation of hostilities to justice and Palestinian national rights, foremost among them, the right of return and self-determination, and enabling the Palestinian people to establish their national sovereignty over their land occupied since June 5, 1967, to build their national future in their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
National Rescue Front
Achieving these goals, and ensuring the sacrifices made by our people are not wasted, no longer allows for distraction with anything that contradicts the higher national interests, especially the abhorrent politics of monopolization, exclusion, and factional dominance. It is time to form a National Rescue Front that includes all patriots willing to engage in following up on the implementation of a unified work program under united Palestinian leadership, surpassing division, and rebuilding national representation capable of protecting the people above internal conflicts, mobilizing all the energies of the Palestinians and the forces standing in solidarity with them to ensure the end of the occupation and the restoration of their national rights.
The moment of truth is now present and cannot tolerate prevarication. It is either to invest in the steadfastness of Gaza and the solidarity of the world to build a national liberation project, or to allow international policies and regional deals to gradually reproduce genocide and displacement. The road to freedom and dignity requires a united national will, rejecting injustice and division, determined to protect our Palestinian people both inside and outside the territories, led by the Palestine Liberation Organization which encompasses everyone and guarantees pluralism within the framework of unified goals agreed upon by our people, as a united national front and guiding force for their national struggle and the legitimate sole representative of our people.
