Trump Sells Illusion... and Legitimizes Occupation
A new deception being marketed by U.S. President Donald Trump is presented to the world as an initiative for a ceasefire and aid to Gaza, without any mention of ending the Israeli occupation or achieving a just peace. In reality, it is a political lie and a sale of illusion based on new Israeli conditions, aimed at prolonging the Israeli genocide war and legitimizing the occupation, giving it more time to execute its plans in a blatant attempt to divert the international community's anger over Israel's crimes in Gaza and the unprecedented violations that surpass war crimes. Trump will not stop the war nor provide even the minimum basic aid; rather, he is entrenching the occupation and serving his interests.
According to statements by Stephen Witteck, Trump’s special representative, the yet-to-be-announced plan includes 21 strategic points, all of them old and new Israeli conditions aimed essentially at serving the Israeli occupation entirely and releasing Israeli prisoners without any mention of Palestinian prisoners. If some Palestinian prisoners are released, their fate is predetermined between re-arrest or assassination by Israeli occupation soldiers, after which the war and genocide machine in Gaza will continue following a temporary truce that may last days or months. The plan also seeks to keep Palestinians without rights, depriving them of any meaningful participation in dialogue and refusing to recognize the State of Palestine, which entrenches Israeli dominance and prolongs the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Amidst the rising international recognition of Palestine as a fully sovereign state within the 1967 borders, the American plan comes to marginalize the legitimate rights of Palestinians and divert attention from them. The Palestinian leadership has been entirely sidelined, with no representation or consideration for Palestinian legitimacy, while the Palestinian people are expected to remain spectators to a future being written without any participation.
As for international justice, it is merely an empty slogan. Trump’s plan does not include the application of any international resolutions or accountability for Israeli or American war criminals who participated in acts of genocide but instead provides a political and legal cover for impunity, allowing the United States to continue maintaining the occupation without deterrence.
On the Arab and Islamic front, there is significant anger among the peoples of the region at the acceptance of some humiliating leaders to sit with Trump, who is complicit in acts of genocide and the bombing of Arab countries, the latest being Qatar. This is the man who has repeatedly used the veto to support the continuation of Israel's genocide and the killing of Palestinian children and civilians, closed the PLO office, moved the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem, prevented a halt to the genocide, and outright rejected the two-state solution.
On the ground, confrontations with the occupying state continue, and fronts of tension remain open: Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, Yemen, Iran, and even some targeted Arab states under Israeli expansionist plans within their framework of creating what is called Greater Israel. Any attempt to annex the West Bank will further inflame the situation and will clash with European and international sanctions while the occupation remains drained due to the resilience of the Palestinian people, which may lead America to consider containing the situation.
Behind all these policies, the plan reveals Trump's vision of the world: that it is the superpower to which all must submit. Every state, every leadership, and every people face one equation: either accept his dictates or face genocide, isolation, and U.S. pressure and sanctions.
In summary, Trump’s plan is not peace but a tool to entrench occupation, extend its life, and expand its control at the expense of the rights of Palestinians and the Arab and Islamic nation. Statements from Witteck about the 21 points reveal that the plan is designed to support the occupation and its conditions, conceal crimes, shield Israeli war criminals, and keep Palestinians under full control away from any accountability or international justice. Ultimately, Palestinian blood will continue to bleed in Gaza and the West Bank, for as the popular saying goes: "He who seeks honey from the wasp's nest will only receive stings."
