The "Dhuq" Project: Fida Hamid Transforms a Treatment Journey into Accomplishment and Challenge

SadaNews - When hardship turns into a blessing, it reveals the finest examples of success and willpower. This is what Fida Hamid, a survivor of cancer from the town of Silwad in the Ramallah district, embodied as she transformed her arduous treatment journey into the launch of an entrepreneurial project for crafting Belgian chocolate infused with Palestinian products.

The story began in 2021, amid chemotherapy sessions, when Fida decided to look for a window of hope to distract her from the pain. She said in an interview with SadaNews: "The idea sparked in my mind while I was in chemotherapy; I wanted to help myself heal and engage in something else far from the pain and illness".

Fida started with a small box containing a single chocolate piece before evolving her product by blending Belgian chocolate with Palestinian dates. She explains: "I began with one piece of chocolate, and when people liked the mix of chocolate and Palestinian dates, the orders began to increase, and I felt that the project was growing".

With the increasing demand in the Palestinian market, the project gradually expanded, gaining widespread popularity and consumer trust. After achieving success, Fida opened her own workshop, providing stable income opportunities for four women, in addition to temporary jobs for university students.

Fida did not stop at her initial success but continued to develop herself and her project by enrolling in several specialized training courses in production and chocolate-making. She also obtained a trademark from the Palestinian Ministry of National Economy and joined the "Palestinian" program in partnership with Bank of Palestine, where she received intensive training for three weeks in marketing, financial management, and accounting.

She reflects on that period: "After the courses and training in marketing, financial management, and accounting, I was ready to further develop my project".
