Taiwan Detects 12 Chinese Ships Around Its Territory
SadaNews - The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense detected eight warships and four other ships belonging to China around its territory between 6 AM yesterday, Friday, and 6 AM today, Saturday.
The ministry added that in response, Taiwan deployed aircraft, warships, and coastal missile systems, according to Taiwan News on Saturday.
So far this month, Taiwan has detected Chinese military aircraft 114 times and ships 186 times. Since September 2020, China has increased its use of grey zone tactics by gradually increasing the number of military aircraft and warships operating around Taiwan.
The "International Institute for Strategic Studies" defines grey zone tactics as "an effort or series of efforts that go beyond conventional deterrence and ensure that a state's security objectives are achieved without resorting to direct and massive use of force," according to the German news agency.
