Iran Holds America and Israel Responsible for Escalation in the Region
SadaNews - Iran has held the United States and Israel responsible for the consequences of the increasing escalation in the region, in a new stance reflecting rising tensions following the Israeli strike that targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut, sparking angry responses in Tehran.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry, according to what was reported by Reuters, stated that the United States and Israel bear the responsibility for the consequences of regional escalation, referring to recent developments that have overshadowed the diplomatic path between Tehran and Washington.
This position comes just hours after the Iranian Supreme National Security Council warned that the response to the Israeli strike in Beirut is "imminent." The Council's Secretary, Mohammad Baqer Zolqadr, stated that "the response from the fighters of Islam is imminent," reaffirming that the Islamic Republic will not allow any crossing of what it describes as red lines.
Beirut Strike Threatens Negotiations
According to statements from Iranian officials, the Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut has cast a shadow over the indirect talks between Iran and the United States.
An informed Iranian source revealed that Tehran was conveying a message to Washington through Qatari mediation before the attack occurred, but the negotiations did not reach a final agreement.
The Chairman of the Shura Council and chief Iranian negotiator, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, also considered the Israeli bombing as evidence that the United States "either lacks the will to respect its commitments or lacks the ability to implement them," warning that the continuation of this approach threatens the future of negotiations.
Commitment to Dialogue Despite Tensions
Despite the escalation, Iranian President Masoud Bezhakiyan confirmed that the Supreme National Security Council approved the continuation of dialogue, noting that diplomacy has achieved positive results in recent weeks.
He clarified that decisions regarding war or negotiation are made through the higher institutions of the state, asserting that Iran is going through a sensitive phase that requires maintaining internal unity.
These developments come at a time when the region is experiencing a state of escalating tension, amid concerns that any Iranian response to the Israeli strike in Lebanon could expand the scope of regional confrontation and complicate efforts aimed at reaching political and security understandings between Tehran and Washington.
