International Petition Calls for Suspension of Israeli Medical Association's Membership in World Medical Association
SadaNews Translation - On Saturday, the prestigious international medical journal "The Lancet" published a petition calling for the suspension of the Israeli Medical Association's membership in the World Medical Association.
The Jerusalem Post, according to SadaNews translation, reported that the petition was submitted by health organizations, such as Health for the People Movement, Doctors for Gaza, and the Health Advisory Council for the Jewish Voice for Peace organization.
It added that the petition calls for the suspension of the Israeli Medical Association's membership in the World Medical Association due to its "failure to condemn the genocide of Palestinians, the destruction of healthcare infrastructure, and the torture and killing of healthcare workers in Gaza."
The World Medical Association conference will be held in Rotterdam in October to consider this petition.
About 1,150 health professionals and health organizations have already signed the petition, which seeks to raise the issue of suspending the Israeli Medical Association's membership during the General Assembly of the World Medical Association in October.
