New York Times: Crash of US "Apache" Helicopter Near Strait of Hormuz
SadaNews: The New York Times reported from two sources on Tuesday that a military helicopter of the "Apache" type belonging to the US Army crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
The sources told the newspaper that the helicopter's crew, consisting of two people, was rescued and evacuated safely.
According to one of the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, it was not immediately clear whether the helicopter crash was due to Iranian fire, a mechanical failure, or another issue, noting that investigations are still ongoing to determine the causes of the incident.
The newspaper reported that the incident occurred days after a rise in hostilities in the region followed by a de-escalation, as Israel and Iran exchanged military strikes on Monday before announcing a ceasefire once again, in the latest development of the confrontation since the ceasefire agreement was reached last April.
For its part, the administration of President Donald Trump did not immediately comment on the helicopter crash, and US Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet commented on the incident.
