Jordan Condemns the Escalation of Settler Terrorism in the West Bank and Holds the Occupation Responsible
SadaNews - The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned the escalating terrorism of settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, most recently the attacks targeting several villages, where they burned homes, agricultural lands, and vehicles, uprooted large numbers of trees, and carried out assaults on Palestinians.
The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Fouad Majali, emphasized the Kingdom's complete rejection of these condemned assaults committed by Israeli settlers, which are an extension of the policies of the extremist Israeli government and the illegitimate Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank. These actions fuel extremism and violence against the Palestinian people and undermine the chances of achieving peace based on a two-state solution, holding Israel, the occupying power, responsible for these assaults.
Majali called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities, to compel Israel - the occupying power - to stop settler assaults, to hold accountable those who commit crimes and ensure they do not escape punishment, and to meet the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent, sovereign state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the only pathway to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that guarantees security and stability in the region.
