Saudi Arabia: Reports of Targeting Prince Sultan Air Base are False

SadaNews - Saudi Arabia denied the reports regarding any targeting of the Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj Governorate, confirming that the base had not been subjected to any attack.

The official spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, stated that the information circulated about targeting the base is incorrect, pointing out that the sounding of sirens in Al-Kharj on Monday morning was a precautionary measure.

Al-Maliki added that the sirens were activated after detecting the launch of a ballistic missile from Yemen, which then disappeared near the border, confirming that the relevant authorities are continuing their investigations to uncover the details and circumstances of this launch.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized the ongoing efforts of the concerned authorities to monitor the situation and take the necessary measures in accordance with applicable regulations.

The National Early Warning Platform for Emergencies, affiliated with the Saudi Civil Defense, earlier issued a warning to residents of Al-Kharj Governorate about a potential hazard, urging everyone to adhere to official instructions and take the necessary precautionary measures to ensure public safety.

The Civil Defense clarified that those who receive warning messages through the National Early Warning Platform should immediately go to the nearest safe place within a building or an interior room away from windows, and remain there until further notice indicating that the danger has passed. It stressed not to leave home or building during the alert situation and to stay away from open areas, glass, balconies, and rooftops.

The instructions urged individuals outside to seek shelter inside the nearest building or behind a suitable barrier, avoiding gatherings, photography, and staying clear of dangerous sites. It also warned drivers to stop in a safe location on the side of the road away from bridges and high buildings when receiving a warning message.

The Civil Defense emphasized the importance of following instructions issued through official channels and communicating with relevant authorities upon noticing any danger or emergency situation, stressing the necessity of adhering to guidelines until an official announcement is made regarding the end of the situation.

Later, the relevant authorities announced the end of the warning situation in Al-Kharj, stating in the alert: "The danger in Al-Kharj has ended. For your safety, continue to follow the Civil Defense instructions and avoid gatherings and photography. In case of an emergency, call (911)."

The Civil Defense confirmed that the end of the alert does not negate the importance of adhering to preventive guidelines and monitoring developments through official sources to ensure everyone's safety.
