"Finance" and "Health": We are working diligently to finalize urgent arrangements for the supply of life-saving medications and to prevent the collapse of medical services

SadaNews - The Ministries of Finance and Health have announced that they are diligently working to finalize urgent arrangements to ensure the supply of emergency quantities of life-saving medicines and medical supplies, including those intended for tumors and chronic diseases, as part of joint efforts to manage the most serious crisis facing the health sector, in a way that preserves the lives of patients on one hand, and prevents the collapse of medical services on the other hand, during the current critical circumstances.

The two ministries confirmed, in a joint statement, placing the whole world before its responsibilities, that the retention of clearance funds for the second consecutive year has not only led to economic and social crises, but has also become a threat to patients' chances of survival, exacerbating the suffering of vulnerable groups in Palestinian society, especially children, the elderly, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities.

The ministries renewed, on behalf of the government, their appreciation for public sector employees for their commitment to serving their people despite the difficult circumstances they are enduring, particularly healthcare workers, including doctors and supportive medical professionals, emphasizing that the government prioritizes spending what is available on sectors related to vital services to enhance the collective resilience in the face of challenges at this stage, while disbursing a percentage of salaries regularly, according to the emergency budget criteria for 2026.

In this context, and out of concern for the public interest, the ministries announced their agreement to respond to the specific situation concerning resident doctors, interns, and medical staff in similar positions in various government health centers, to assist them in continuing to provide services to patients from their community, while taking into account the heavy workload and pressures placed upon them.

The ministries called upon all unions, at this critical moment between the survival of services and their collapse, to refrain from any actions related to abstaining from work.
