Trump Raises the Ceiling of Guarantees and Demands Iran for a "Written Nuclear Condition"

SadaNews: ABC News reported, citing sources, that President Donald Trump is demanding Tehran to offer specific written nuclear concessions as part of a preliminary agreement aimed at breaking the deadlock between Washington and Tehran.

The news network clarified, citing American officials, that "Iranian negotiators had previously provided verbal guarantees that the regime would ultimately agree to certain conditions regarding the Iranian nuclear program, but Trump decided during a meeting in the Situation Room on Friday that those commitments were not strong enough."

During his testimony before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared some details about what the Trump administration wanted to see from Iran before moving forward.

Rubio said, "They need to commit to very specific negotiations regarding highly enriched uranium, and they need to agree to negotiate strict and long-lasting restrictions or the elimination of enrichment activities in their country."

He added that "Iran will have to make concessions regarding its nuclear program in order to receive any easing of sanctions from the United States."

He indicated that "the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz is considered a key American priority in negotiations with Iran," explaining that "the strait must be open, and the United States will not lift the blockade until this condition is met."

It is noteworthy that President Donald Trump has denied the halt of talks between the United States and Iran in recent days, asserting that communication between the two sides has not ceased.

The American president emphasized that "the course of the talks remains uncertain in results," while also indicating that he "informed the Iranian side of the necessity to reach an agreement."
