Newspaper: US Considers Expanding Nuclear Weapons Deployment in Europe
SadaNews - The Financial Times reported today, Tuesday, that the United States is considering the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in other European countries that are members of NATO.
The newspaper indicated that American officials expressed their readiness for additional deployments outside of the six current countries hosting bombers with nuclear capabilities.
This information is according to a report by the Financial Times citing three individuals familiar with the discussions.
It is noteworthy that American nuclear weapons are already deployed in five European and Middle Eastern countries under NATO's nuclear sharing agreements, which are: Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, and Turkey.
The US and Russia together possess about 87% of the world's nuclear warheads, with estimates suggesting that Washington has approximately 5,177 nuclear warheads.
