Jerusalem Governorate: Comprehensive Escalation of Occupation Crimes During May
SadaNews: The Jerusalem Governorate monitored during the past month of May a wide-ranging and systematic escalation in the crimes and violations of the Israeli occupation against the occupied city of Jerusalem and its residents, which included various aspects of life, foremost among them assaults on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, field killings, arrest campaigns, deportation orders, demolition and uprooting, in addition to the continuation of colonial projects aimed at changing the demographic and legal reality of the city.
The report recorded the martyrdom of 3 individuals, the storming of (7244) settlers into the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, (101) cases of arrest, and the issuance of more than (67) deportation orders, in addition to carrying out (84) demolition and uprooting operations during the same month.
The governorate confirmed the continued policies of the occupation in imposing restrictions on the city and its residents, through escalating incursions, intensifying assaults on religious sites, committing direct field violations against citizens, in addition to the continued demolition operations, notifications, and land confiscation, as part of attempts to Judaize Jerusalem and change its historical and legal character.
The Martyrs
The Jerusalem Governorate recorded the continued implementation by the occupation forces of a field killing policy, as their assaults during May 2026 resulted in the martyrdom of 3 citizens in areas north of occupied Jerusalem and its surroundings.
On May 11, 2026, the young man Ayman Rafiq Muhammad Al-Hajlamoun (30 years old) was martyred in front of the Qalandiya camp north of Jerusalem, affected by his injury from the fire of the occupation forces during their incursion into the camp, while the occupation forces continue to withhold his body.
On May 12, 2026, the worker Zakaria Ali Muhammad Qudais (44 years old) was martyred by the occupation's gunfire in the town of Al-Ram north of Jerusalem, near the separation wall, under the pretext of attempting to cross the wall.
On May 31, 2026, the young man Imad Haroun Ishtiyeh (26 years old) from the village of Salem east of Nablus was martyred, affected by his injury from the gunfire of the occupation near the separation wall in the town of Al-Ram.
The Injuries
The Jerusalem Governorate documented (17) injuries during the month, distributed between injuries from live and rubber bullets, assaults, teargas suffocation, and injuries resulting from settler attacks.
Injuries were concentrated in the areas of Al-Ram, Qalandiya camp, and Hizma, in addition to assaults on workers trying to reach their places of work inside the 1948 territories, as well as assaults in Silwan and Beit Iksa.
Crimes and Violations at Al-Aqsa Mosque
During the past month of May, the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque witnessed an unprecedented escalation, as it was stormed by (7244) settlers, in addition to (2690) under the cover of tourism, amidst heavy protection from the occupation forces.
The violations included performing public Talmudic rituals, attempts to introduce sacrifices, and raising flags inside the mosque's courtyards, in addition to assaulting its guards, storming it during religious Talmudic occasions, and organizing provocative marches in the old city.
This coincided with Hebrew holidays and occasions, especially "Jerusalem Unity Day", within the framework of systematic attempts to impose a new Judaizing reality inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings.
Settler Attacks
The governorate recorded (45) settler attacks, including (9) physical assaults against citizens and their property, Bedouin gatherings, and religious sites.
The assaults included theft of livestock, preventing farmers from accessing their lands, firing live bullets, and attacking homes, in addition to repeated targeting of Bedouin gatherings east of Jerusalem, especially in the vicinity of Khan Al-Ahmar.
Arrests
The governorate documented (101) citizens arrested, including (3) women and (9) children, during wide-ranging incursions that targeted various neighborhoods and towns in Jerusalem, including Al-Issawiya, Hizma, Qalandiya and Shufat camps, Silwan, and the Old City.
The largest arrest campaign was recorded in the town of Hizma on May 20, with a total of 27 detainees in one day.
Court Decisions
The occupation courts continued to issue arbitrary decisions that included financial fines, house arrest, deportation, travel bans, in addition to extending administrative detention without charges.
Actual Imprisonment
The governorate documented (15) sentences and decisions, including (10) administrative detentions, in addition to actual imprisonment sentences and financial fines against Jerusalemites.
House Arrest
(8) house arrest decisions were recorded, ranging between 4 and 10 days, some of which were accompanied by deportation or financial guarantees.
Deportation Orders
The governorate documented (67) deportation orders from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City, targeting those who maintain a presence there, activists, journalists, and released prisoners.
Demolition and Uprooting
(84) demolition and uprooting operations were recorded, including (21) forcibly self-demolished structures, (56) demolitions carried out by occupation machinery, and (7) uprooting operations.
These operations were distributed across Al-Ram, Al-Eizariya, Silwan, Sur Baher, Jabal Mukabber, and Qalandiya, with the most significant being the demolition of about 40 facilities in the Al-Mashtal area in Al-Eizariya.
Notifications and Land Confiscation
(20) notifications and decisions were recorded, including demolitions, evacuations, halting construction, and confiscation of land.
Crimes Against Institutions
The violations targeted religious, educational, and media institutions, as well as journalistic and medical teams, in addition to storming Al-Aqsa Mosque and organizing Judaizing activities at the Buraq Wall.
There were also attacks on UNRWA in Sheikh Jarrah, and plans to expand settlements in Nabi Samuel and Beit Iksa.
Colonial Projects
The governorate documented (15) colonial plans, which included building hundreds of colonial units and expansion projects in the Ma'ale Adumim settlement, on dozens of dunums of Palestinian land.
The Jerusalem Governorate concluded its report by confirming that these data reflect a systematic escalation in the occupation policies aimed at Judaizing Jerusalem and imposing new realities on the ground, amid ongoing violations against residents, religious sites, and properties.
