US Military: We intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles targeting our forces in Kuwait

SadaNews - The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday that it intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles that were targeting American forces stationed in Kuwait, confirming that they were shot down immediately with no reported injuries among US soldiers.

It stated in a post on the "X" platform that the interception occurred at 11 PM Eastern Time, assuring that all US troops are safe and have not sustained any harm as a result of the attack.

CENTCOM also added that its forces remain highly alert and will continue to protect its personnel from any threats or "Iranian assaults," while continuing to support the ceasefire that has been in effect between the two sides since April 8.

These developments come after the US military announced that it carried out a series of "defensive" strikes on southern Iran on Saturday and Sunday, marking the third such operation within about a week.

These strikes targeted radar systems and drone control centers in Goruk and the city of Qeshm in the Strait of Hormuz, according to announcements by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) via the X platform on Sunday.

The US military stated that these operations were executed in response to Iranian military actions, including the downing of an American drone that was operating over international waters.

Shortly thereafter, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated that its forces targeted a base used by the US military for launching strikes against Iran without specifying its location.

The Kuwaiti military had earlier announced that it was responding to an attack involving missiles and drones.

This occurs at a time when Tehran and Washington continue to exchange messages in an effort to reach a memorandum of understanding to end the war that began on February 28 with a US-Israeli attack on Iran, before its repercussions spread throughout the region.
