Inclusion of 'Israel' in the United Nations Blacklist for Perpetrators of Sexual Violence in Conflict Areas
SadaNews - The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, announced this morning, Thursday, that Israel has been included in the UN "blacklist" of entities accused of committing sexual violence in conflict areas, alongside organizations classified as terrorist such as "ISIS".
Danon alleged that "this is a political decision detached from facts and reality", adding that Israel has "transferred evidence, documents, and detailed responses to every allegation".
The Israeli ambassador further stated: "We invited UN representatives to come to the field and examine the matters closely, but they of course chose not to do so".
According to the "Wynet" website, the UN is preparing to announce the inclusion of Israeli bodies in the list of countries and organizations accused of committing sexual violence in conflict areas.
The report mentioned that among the entities to be included in the list is the Israeli Prison Service, along with other Israeli authorities that have been included in a "monitoring framework" in preparation for potential future inclusion.
This comes amid increasing reports and testimonies from Palestinian and international sources regarding violations against Palestinian prisoners and detainees, where human rights and media organizations have documented hundreds of testimonies coming from the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and within Israeli prisons, which spoke of torture practices and sexual violations against Palestinians during arrest, interrogation, and detention.
