Netanyahu Officially Announces Israel's Intent to End Dependence on U.S. Financial Aid

SadaNews: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced an ambitious plan to end dependence on American financial aid, confirming that he wants to gradually reduce U.S. financial support to zero, starting from now.

Netanyahu said in his statements to CBS News: "I told President Donald Trump this, and I told our people as well. They were astonished, but I said that I want to reduce U.S. financial support to zero, which is the financial part of the military cooperation we receive – because we receive $3.8 billion annually."

Netanyahu added: "I believe the time has come for us to wean ourselves off the remaining military support. I want us to start now."

The United States has agreed to provide a total of $38 billion in military aid to Israel from 2018 to 2028.

These statements came during a television interview and have been widely circulated on social media, where they were described as an official announcement reflecting Israel's direction towards complete independence from external financial aid.

It is worth noting that the United States provides Israel with annual military aid amounting to approximately $3.8 billion, which is mostly used to purchase American-made weapons.

Israel is among the few countries that have previously given up on American economic aid in the past, and the aid currently remains limited to the military aspect.

The announcement comes at a time when U.S.-Israeli relations are witnessing significant developments, especially with the United States and Israel waging a war against the Iranian regime.
