Data: Pakistan-flagged tanker carrying Emirati crude exits Hormuz

SadaNews Economy - Shipping data released by "Kpler" and the London Stock Exchange indicated that the oil tanker (Shalamar) flying the Pakistani flag sailed from the Gulf through the Strait of Hormuz loaded with crude oil that was loaded from the UAE, according to "Reuters".

The "Kpler" data showed that the tanker left the waterway yesterday, Thursday, loaded with approximately 440,000 barrels of Das crude blend after being loaded earlier this week. The tanker is heading towards the port of Karachi to unload its cargo on April 19.

Shalamar was one of two Pakistani oil tankers that entered the strait on Sunday to load crude oil and petroleum products. The Pakistani oil minister stated on Wednesday that Shalamar loaded crude oil from the UAE at a facility belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC). The Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, which operates the tanker, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The United States initiated a blockade of the strait this week to control ship movements. The U.S. Navy stated in a press release issued yesterday, Thursday, that the blockade has been expanded to include shipments deemed smuggled, and any vessels suspected of attempting to reach Iranian territory will be subject to boarding and inspection.

The U.S. Central Command reported on the platform "X" that 14 ships turned back due to the blockade based on directions from U.S. forces 72 hours after the implementation began.
