Australia Confirms It Has Not Received New Requests from the United States for Assistance in the Iran War

SadaNews - Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said today (Friday) that his country has not received any "new requests" from the United States for assistance in the Iran War, since President Donald Trump stated that he is "not satisfied with Australia's stance."

Australia, a U.S. ally, has announced that it is not engaged in the Iranian war, but has expressed interest in reopening the Strait of Hormuz to oil tankers.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Australia for not providing assistance in the Iranian war.

He told reporters in Washington on Thursday, "I am not satisfied with Australia's stance because they were not present when we asked them to be."

He added that they "were not present regarding the Strait of Hormuz."

Albanese told reporters that Trump indicated he "controls the situation," emphasizing that "no new requests have been made at all" from the United States regarding Iran.

Australian Defense Minister Richard Marles announced on Friday that Australia is having discussions with France, Britain, and the United States regarding the Strait of Hormuz.

Australian officials revealed that Washington requested Canberra's assistance last month in defending Gulf states, to which Canberra responded by sending a P-8 Poseidon surveillance aircraft and missiles to protect the Emirates.
