Turkey, Syria, and Jordan Develop a Railway Network Connecting the Gulf to Europe

SadaNews Economy - Turkey, Syria, and Jordan have agreed to update their railway networks with the aim of creating a corridor linking Southern Europe to the Arabian Gulf, according to the Turkish Minister of Transport.

Abdul Qadir Uraloglu told Bloomberg on Wednesday that he reached the agreement with his Syrian and Jordanian counterparts during a meeting held last week. He added that the construction of the network is expected to take between four to five years, after which it will be connected to the railway system in Saudi Arabia.

Uraloglu did not provide details regarding the funding for the project, only stating that discussions on this matter are still ongoing.

He added that the project will also include improvements on roads leading to Turkey, although the scope of these works has yet to be clarified.
