The Start of the US Blockade on Iranian Ports
SadaNews - The implementation of the US maritime blockade on Iranian ports began at 10 AM Washington time, 2 PM GMT, and 5 PM in occupied Palestine.
The US Central Command announced a complete maritime blockade on navigation in Iranian ports.
The British Maritime Navigation Authority stated that it had been notified of access restrictions to Iranian ports and shores, starting from 2 PM GMT.
It pointed out that the restrictions will apply regardless of the flag that ships carry or the Iranian port they will engage with.
It was mentioned that the restrictions reported include the Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, and the Arabian Sea east of the Strait of Hormuz, noting that there have been no reports of impacts on the transit of ships to and from non-Iranian destinations through the Strait of Hormuz due to these measures.
Meanwhile, Fox News reported, citing navigational data, that the US aircraft carrier George H.W. Bush is now in the Mediterranean Sea.
This step came after the collapse of peace talks in Pakistan, with Washington holding Iran responsible for refusing to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated on Sunday that the blockade will be applied "neutrally to ships of all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman."
The Iranian armed forces announced that the US blockade would be "illegal" and amount to "piracy," warning that none of the Gulf ports would be safe if the safety of Iranian ports was threatened.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday evening, quoting officials and informed sources, that US President Donald Trump and his advisors are considering resuming limited military strikes against Iran, in addition to imposing US control over the Strait of Hormuz, as a means to break the deadlock in peace talks.
