Sources: Washington May Resume Strikes on Iran If Maritime Blockade Fails
SadaNews - Informed sources told Axios that President Donald Trump is considering resuming military strikes against Iranian targets if the maritime blockade imposed by Washington on Iran does not achieve the desired results in changing its political and military trajectory.
According to these sources, international mediators will continue their efforts to negotiate with both Washington and Tehran, aiming to bridge existing gaps and reach a comprehensive agreement that ends the ongoing war and eases tensions in the region.
Estimates suggest that potential Iranian targets that the United States may strike include infrastructures that Washington has previously threatened to attack, reflecting the seriousness of the U.S. administration in keeping the military option on the table.
Trump is also reportedly seeking to prevent Iran from using the Strait of Hormuz as a pressure tactic in the ongoing talks, given the strait's strategic importance in international shipping and global energy supplies.
