Moscow: Sending UN Forces to Secure Bushehr Nuclear Plant Depends on Iran's Approval
SadaNews - Kirill Logvinov, head of the international organizations department at the Russian Foreign Ministry, confirmed that sending UN forces to ensure the security of the Iranian Bushehr nuclear plant is contingent upon Tehran's approval.
He stated, "The deployment of forces to secure the Bushehr plant will depend on Tehran's readiness to accept such a mission."
He emphasized that "the consent of the host country is the primary and most important condition for UN peacekeeping operations."
The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization reported three incidents of shells landing in the vicinity of the Bushehr plant in March.
Iranian authorities indicated that the plant was targeted for the fourth time, resulting in one fatality, material damage, and warnings of a regional catastrophe.
The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, called for maximum restraint to avoid the risk of a nuclear incident.
Earlier, Alexey Likhachov, Director General of Rosatom, the Russian nuclear energy agency managing the plant, stated that the situation in the Bushehr plant area continues to deteriorate.
