Prime Minister Chairs Meeting with Governors and Specialized Ministers to Enhance Citizens' Resilience and Regulate Markets

SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Mohammed Mustafa chaired today, Sunday, at his office in Ramallah, a meeting of the Council of Governors, attended by the President's Advisor for Governorate Affairs, General Haj Ismail Jabr, and several specialized ministers, to emphasize the mechanisms for consumer protection and enhance the integration of government oversight on markets and the prices of goods and commercial services, contributing to bolstering the resilience of our people.

The Prime Minister reiterated the necessity of tightening market oversight and preventing exploitation as a priority in these difficult times, along with intensifying field visits to shops, factories, and markets to ensure compliance with governmental instructions and directives in this regard.

Mustafa also emphasized the importance of enhancing coordination among regulatory bodies in every governorate, especially those entities with the authority for judicial control, to confront cases of exploitation, price hikes, or fraud, and to ensure the legal procedures against violators are followed with the relevant authorities.

The meeting also discussed the new draft Consumer Protection Law, which will contribute to combating manipulation of specifications, smuggling, and protecting citizens while tightening penalties, in preparation for its submission to the Cabinet.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation for all the initiatives and efforts made by the private sector in coordination with the government, and their commitment to not raising prices, which contributes to enhancing the resilience of our people and getting through this difficult phase.
