The Presidency Condemns Ben Gvir's Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Considers It a Flagrant Violation of the Status Quo
SadaNews - The Palestinian presidency condemned the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards by settlers, led by the extremist minister Itamar Ben Gvir, and their performance of Talmudic prayers there under the protection of the occupation forces. This is considered a flagrant violation of the existing historical and legal status, a desecration of its sanctity, and a serious escalation and unacceptable provocation.
The presidency emphasized that these provocations come as part of a systematic policy aimed at imposing new realities at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, including attempts to temporally and spatially divide it.
It warned of the dangers of continuing such violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem, given their serious repercussions on security and stability in the region.
It stressed that there is no Israeli sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, affirming that the entire area of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is 144 dunams, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims.
The Palestinian presidency called on the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities and to take a firm stance requiring Israel to stop all its violations and unilateral actions, whether in Jerusalem or in the other occupied Palestinian territories.
