Israeli Airstrikes on Southern Lebanon and Hezbollah Shells Border Towns
SadaNews - The Israeli occupying forces continue to carry out intense airstrikes on areas in southern Lebanon for the fifth consecutive day, amid escalating border tensions between the two sides, despite the announcement of a temporary ceasefire for two weeks between the United States and Iran, which Washington and Tel Aviv denied includes Lebanon.
In response, Hezbollah announced the continuation of its military operations against Israeli positions, renewing on Sunday the launch of rockets and explosive drones towards border towns in the north. On Saturday, dozens of operations targeted military sites and gatherings of the army and settlers in the Upper Galilee region.
The Israeli Air Force launched a series of air raids on towns in southern Lebanon, including Tuffah, Tibnin, al-Babiliah, Jawiya, Kfour, Zoutar, Debbin, and Shama. Lebanese sources reported that Israeli Apache helicopters opened heavy fire towards the town of Khiyam.
Politically, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened further escalation, asserting that no settlement would occur except under conditions that include disarming Hezbollah and reaching a long-term peace agreement, while the party reiterated its rejection of any direct negotiations with Israel.
These developments come amid the ongoing war on Lebanon that has left more than two thousand martyrs and thousands of wounded, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
