White House: The trilateral talks in Pakistan are "ongoing and face-to-face"

SadaNews - A White House official reported today, Saturday, that the trilateral talks between the United States, Iran, and Pakistan are "ongoing and are face-to-face," noting that "additional experts are providing support from Washington to the negotiating team in Islamabad."

The official stated that "full teams of American experts in relevant fields are present in the Pakistani capital."

A Pakistani source clarified that the negotiations were held face-to-face between U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, special envoy Steve Witkoff, President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir.

Meanwhile, another Pakistani official revealed that the atmosphere is friendly among the delegations in Islamabad, mentioning positivity in the ongoing negotiations between Washington and Tehran, according to Pakistani media reports.

Subsequently, technical teams from both sides moved to discuss the details of the outstanding issues, as reported by Iranian state media.

The media also indicated the possibility of extending the talks for an additional day.

It is noteworthy that these negotiations, which are expected to continue until tomorrow, Sunday, came after a six-week war that erupted on February 28 between Iran, Israel, and America, before Pakistani Prime Minister announced a temporary ceasefire lasting two weeks on the morning of April 8. The talks also occurred amid repeated threats from U.S. President Donald Trump about the possibility of resuming the war if an agreement is not reached.

Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf confirmed that Iran is ready to reach an agreement if Washington presents what he described as a real agreement and grants his country "its rights." He emphasized that his country has good intentions but "does not trust the United States."
