The Presidency Condemns the Occupation's Approval of Establishing 34 New Settlements in the West Bank, Considering it a Dangerous Escalation

SadaNews - The presidency condemned the approval by Israeli occupation authorities to establish 34 new settlements in the West Bank, considering it a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.

The presidency confirmed in a statement issued today, Thursday, that all settlements are illegal in all occupied Palestinian territories, according to international legitimacy resolutions, the latest of which is resolution No. 2334, which emphasized that the expansion of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories is contrary to international law and relevant international resolutions, is illegal, and must be stopped.

The presidency pointed out that this dangerous decision represents an additional Israeli step to implement plans for annexation, racial expansion, and displacement, for which the extreme right-wing Israeli government is responsible, insisting on igniting the region and dragging it into further spirals of violence and escalation.

The presidency called on the international community, especially the U.S. administration, for immediate intervention to stop these dangerous unilateral actions, and to pressure the occupying authorities to halt their escalation policies and ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and their land.

The presidency reiterated the commitment of the Palestinian people to their legitimate national rights, foremost among them establishing their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, affirming that these Israeli decisions will not legitimatize the occupation, and all settlements are destined to disappear.
