Sheikh Meets Al-Safadi in Jordan

SadaNews - Palestinian Vice President Hussein Sheikh met today, Wednesday, with Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Al-Safadi in the Jordanian capital, Amman. Sheikh and Al-Safadi discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip and underscored the necessity of implementing all provisions of the ceasefire agreement and introducing aid to Gaza immediately and adequately. The officials affirmed the need for an immediate and effective regional and international move to stop Israel's illegal measures in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, which undermine the two-state solution and kill chances for achieving a just peace. They also warned of the catastrophic consequences of Israel's continued annexation of Palestinian lands, expansion of settlements, and attempts to alter the historical and legal status in occupied Jerusalem and its holy sites, depriving Muslims and Christians of their right to practice their religious rituals in their sacred places. Sheikh and Al-Safadi stressed that the realization of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only way to achieve peace in the region.
