After Targeting Haifa Refinery.. Trump Vows Iran of a 'Near Response'
SadaNews - On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his response to the Iranian attack on Israel's largest oil refinery would come "soon," affirming that he has given Iran and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf a deadline of one week.
Trump said in an interview with the "New York Post" that within about a week it will be known whether the Iranian Parliament Speaker is willing to work with the Americans.
He added that there is a "complete change" within the Iranian regime, considering that the previous leaderships "are no longer present," and that the United States is dealing with a "new group" he said is "more rational so far."
He also pointed to ambiguity surrounding the health status of the new Iranian Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, stating that no one has heard of him, and that he "may be alive, but his condition is very bad."
Trump hinted at targeting the energy infrastructure in Iran, saying the United States may consider the "complete destruction" of power plants, oil wells, and Qeshm Island, if no agreement is reached "soon."
The Israeli army reported on Monday that 10 missiles targeted Haifa and its bay, hitting the oil complex and two buildings in "Kiryat Ata" and "Shfa 'Amr."
For its part, Israeli Channel 12 reported that damage was inflicted on the Haifa refinery following attacks from Lebanon.
