The Cabinet Calls on the International Community to Intervene to Stop Settler Crimes

SadaNews - Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa opened the weekly Cabinet meeting, informing the members of the Council about the political and diplomatic movements and efforts being made to garner more international pressure to stop the rising crimes of the occupation and the terrorist settler gangs, which in the past four days have targeted 24 Palestinian villages in 11 waves of attacks, resulting in the injury of 23 citizens. These assaults have also caused damage to 17 homes and facilities due to arson and vandalism, in addition to inflicting harm on 26 vehicles and a car wash. These attacks were concentrated in the provinces of Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron, and Bethlehem.

In this context, the Cabinet reiterated its demand for the international community to take serious and immediate measures to stop these crimes and hold the perpetrators accountable, directing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and our various diplomatic missions to intensify their efforts with all countries of the world and international organizations in this regard.

Additionally, the Cabinet warned of the dangers of the continued violations of the occupation in the Gaza Strip, amid the daily bombardments and accompanying massacres, along with the documented arrests and assaults against patients and travelers at the Rafah crossing, as well as the worsening indicators of an undeclared famine. The Cabinet called on the international community, especially the countries guaranteeing the ceasefire agreement, to assume their responsibilities and take urgent action to stop these violations and hold the occupation accountable for its increasing breaches in recent weeks.

The Cabinet also discussed the rising rates of violence against women and children, and the efforts being made to stop it, especially the crimes of the occupation and the necessity of documenting and exposing them internationally, alongside societal violations, the latest being the murder of a woman by her husband, reflecting the urgent need to enhance legal protection and raise awareness of protection measures for vulnerable groups, particularly women and children. The Cabinet emphasized the importance of expanding the utilization of protection and guidance centers provided by the government, alongside legal and psychological support services, directing efforts to intensify social and economic empowerment programs for these groups, thereby enhancing their protection and resilience.

Amid the continued threats from shrapnel and projectile fragments, the Cabinet confirmed that the safety of students takes precedence over any other considerations, stressing the need to adhere to preventive measures and instructions from relevant authorities. The Cabinet also directed the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to develop a sustainable remote education system and integrate it with basic education, taking necessary steps to compensate for educational loss.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the formation of the National Food Safety Team, to enhance coordination among the relevant ministries, formulate policies, update legislation, and carry out food inspection and supervision among various authorities, ensuring integration and implementation of strategic plans in the field of food safety.

The Cabinet also approved the request of the Energy Authority to adopt the costs of supplementary works for the connection of the Beit Oula station to the Hebron electricity network, and also agreed to the procedures for purchasing services to issue construction licenses for the Attara electricity conversion station, in the context of accelerating the government's plan and initiative to enhance energy security in Palestine.

The Cabinet also discussed the second reading of the schedule of fees for telecommunications licenses and services, and in the first reading of an amended regulation for the licensing system for nurseries and the accompanying executive instructions for 2026, which would strengthen the monitoring and follow-up measures for nurseries to provide a safe environment for children in early childhood.

The Cabinet also approved the recommendation of the Board of Directors of the National Authority for Education and Technical and Vocational Training to select the Executive Director after completing a competitive process that included twenty candidates, emphasizing the importance of accelerating efforts to prepare a national strategy to strengthen vocational and technical training in Palestine.

It also approved an agreement to enhance the Palestinian national statistical system with support from the European Union in order to develop the data system of the Central Bureau of Statistics and its infrastructure, alongside employing data science and artificial intelligence.
