White House: FBI warning of an Iranian response based on unconfirmed information

SadaNews - On Thursday, White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt stated that the FBI's warning to law enforcement agencies last month about the possibility of Tehran attempting to respond to any American strikes on Iran by launching drone attacks in California was based on a single unconfirmed piece of information. She added that there has never been such a threat to the United States from Iran.

The secret warning issued by the FBI, through the regional intelligence center in Los Angeles composed of several security agencies, came to light yesterday as the war that began on February 28 continues with intense American and Israeli strikes on Iran.

The alert referred to information held by the bureau indicating that Iran "had been seeking in early February to launch a surprise attack using drones" launched from a ship against targets in California "in the event that the United States struck Iran."

Levitt stated via X that the warning was based on a single email sent to local law enforcement authorities in California containing one unconfirmed piece of information. She wrote: "To clarify, there is no threat from Iran to our homeland, nor has there ever been."

President Donald Trump dismissed the idea of Iran-backed attacks on U.S. soil.

In response to a question yesterday about whether he was concerned that Iran might escalate its response to include strikes on U.S. territory, he said: "No.. I am not concerned."
