Presidency Denounces the Occupation's Closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque Doors to Worshippers
SadaNews - The Palestinian presidency condemned the continued closure of the doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque/Haram al-Sharif by the Israeli occupation authorities, preventing worshippers from performing religious rituals there during the month of Ramadan. It pointed out that these measures represent a serious infringement on the historical and legal status of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and religious sites in occupied Jerusalem.
The presidency warned against the occupation authorities exploiting the atmosphere of tension and escalation in the region to undermine Islamic and Christian religious sites, emphasizing that this clearly violates international law, which explicitly states the freedom of worship for believers in the holy city.
The presidency reaffirmed its absolute rejection of the provocative measures taken by the occupation in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and towards worshippers, stressing the necessity of opening the doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque and not obstructing worshippers from accessing it, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, and halting its ongoing violations and illegal practices against Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.
The presidency reiterated that the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, with its total area of 144 dunams, is a purely worship place for Muslims, underscoring the importance of maintaining the historical and legal status quo in the Haram al-Sharif.
