Syrian Army: Hezbollah Fired Shells at Our Forces in the Town of Sarghaya
SadaNews - The operations authority of the Syrian army confirmed today, Tuesday, that artillery shells fell on Syrian territory near the town of Sarghaya, west of Damascus, indicating that they originated from Lebanese territory.
The Syrian news agency (SANA) reported that "Hezbollah militias fired these shells toward army positions near Sarghaya, and they landed inside Syrian territory."
SANA stated that the army has observed reinforcements for the "militias" arriving at the Syrian-Lebanese border and is accurately assessing the situation, noting that it is in contact with the Lebanese army to discuss suitable options for taking necessary measures.
Security Deployment
The Syrian Ministry of Defense had confirmed that the deployment of army units on the borders with Lebanon and Iraq is a precautionary measure to secure the borders, amidst regional developments and rising tensions related to Iran.
The media and communication department in the ministry explained to Al Jazeera that this deployment is a "defensive sovereignty measure that does not target any state or entity, and aims solely to protect the borders and prevent any illegal activities, without any other intentions."
