Trump: The Decision to End the War with Iran Will Be Jointly Made with Netanyahu
SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump said that the decision to end the ongoing war with Iran will be a joint decision between him and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, while retaining the final say on the timing of ending operations.
In a phone interview with the "Times of Israel," Trump stated that the decision will be made in consultation with Netanyahu, adding: "I believe it is a mutual decision (...) We talk constantly, and I will make the decision at the right time."
Trump indicated that Netanyahu will have a say in the timing of ending the war, but he assured that the final decision will be his.
He added that the United States and Israel have worked together to confront Iran, stating: "Iran would have destroyed Israel and everything around it (...) We worked together and destroyed a state that wanted to destroy Israel."
Trump's remarks came days after the start of the war launched jointly by the United States and Israel on February 28, which resulted in the killing of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt had previously indicated that Washington expects the war to last between four and six weeks.
The interview came hours after Iranian media announced the selection of Mojtabai Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader of the country, succeeding his father.
In a brief comment on this, Trump said: "We will see what happens."
