Democrats Accuse the Justice Department of Withholding Epstein Files Linked to Trump

SadaNews - The Democratic Party has accused President Donald Trump's administration of conducting "the largest government cover-up in modern history" after reports indicated that the Justice Department has withheld documents related to allegations of sexual assault against a minor attributed to Trump within the court files of Jeffrey Epstein.

The Justice Department had released millions of documents related to Epstein, who was convicted of trafficking minors, under transparency laws, but National Public Radio observed gaps in the complaint files submitted by a woman against Trump in 2019.

A review of the indexes and serial numbers showed that the FBI conducted four interviews with the complainant and prepared summaries and notes, yet the public database includes only one summary that focuses on her allegations against Epstein, while the other three and the accompanying notes, which exceed 50 pages, were missing.

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee stated that this process constitutes illegal withholding of documents, emphasizing that they will conduct a parallel investigation to demand the retrieval of the missing records.

Democratic leader Robert Garcia stated that he reviewed the unredacted documents and reached the same conclusion, considering that the Justice Department has withheld the FBI interviews with the complainant.

For its part, the Justice Department denied deleting any files, noting that some materials had not been published temporarily for legal reasons such as duplicate copies or ongoing federal investigations, and promised to republish the documents after redaction.

However, Democrats believe that the missing interviews do not align with the legal categories mentioned by the department.
