Public Prosecution Refers 8 Defendants to Corruption Crimes Court for Crimes Against State Property
SadaNews - On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the Public Prosecution, through the Corruption Crimes Prosecution and within its legal jurisdiction, referred eight defendants to the Corruption Crimes Court due to their involvement in crimes that affect state property in the Nabi Musa area – Jericho and the Jordan Valley, after completing investigations and gathering technical, financial, and legal evidence in accordance with the procedures.
Investigations concluded with the accusation of five public employees, a practicing lawyer, and two businessmen, of committing crimes of encroachment on state property by proving their involvement in filling and covering natural watercourses that are confirmed in reality and on maps, which enabled them to seize hundreds of dunams and register them as private property, manipulating them for their personal gain, thus illegally converting public lands into private ownership and achieving significant financial benefits.
Financial investigations revealed that some defendants had large deposits in their accounts amounting to millions of shekels, which were attributed to transactions involving the lands in the case, constituting a money laundering crime derived from original crimes affecting public funds.
The Public Prosecution asserts that the crimes attributed to the defendants according to the official technical reports and legal evidence resulting from the investigations entail a compound assault on public funds, coupled with the exploitation of professional and functional status to achieve unlawful benefits, undermining the system for protecting state property. The Public Prosecution emphasizes that all measures, including detention, were carried out by judicial decisions in accordance with the guarantees provided by law.
As the Public Prosecution refers the file to the competent judiciary, it reaffirms its commitment to pursue anyone proven to be involved in violating public funds, regardless of their status, in upholding the rule of law and reinforcing the principle of accountability.
