"Discipline Yourself and Your Children" Tunisian Majbari Angry After Facing Racial Abuse

SadaNews - Tunisian international Hannibal Majbari, midfielder for Burnley, expressed his dissatisfaction after receiving racial abuse following his team's match yesterday, Saturday, against Chelsea in the English Premier League.

Majbari was subjected to racial insults via social media after the match held at Stamford Bridge, which also happened to Chelsea player French Wesley Fofana.

Majbari, who was fouled leading to Fofana receiving a first of two yellow cards that resulted in his dismissal, published the messages he received on social media.

He wrote in a post on his Instagram account, "Discipline yourself and your children."

Burnley issued a statement supporting the Tunisian player and confirmed that there is no place for racism in the club.

The club stated on its website, "There is no place for this behavior in our society, and we condemn it strongly."

It added, "The club continues to firmly hold its position that we adopt a policy of zero tolerance for any form of discrimination."

The club further noted, "We have reported the post to Meta, the owner of Instagram, and we expect strong support from them. We have also informed the Premier League and the police, and will work to ensure the identification of the responsible individual and to investigate him."

Fofana Angry and Chelsea Supports Him

Fofana, who was sent off in the 72nd minute after receiving a second yellow card for his challenge on James Ward-Prowse, also posted photos of messages he received on Instagram after the match.

The French player wrote on Instagram, "In 2026, the situation remains the same; nothing is changing."

He added, "These people are never held accountable. You launch major campaigns against racism, but no one takes action."

Chelsea condemned these abuses on its website, stating, "This behavior is completely unacceptable and inconsistent with the values of the game and everything the club stands for. There is no place for racism."

It added, "We stand united with Wesley. We fully support him, as we support all our players who are often forced to endure this hatred just for doing their job."

It continued, "We will work with the authorities and relevant platforms to identify those responsible for this behavior and take the maximum possible action."

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, allowing Chelsea to move up to fourth place on goal difference ahead of Manchester United, which will face Everton on Monday, potentially reclaiming that position if they win, while Burnley remains in 19th place with 19 points.
