Report: More than 100 Arrests in the West Bank Since the Beginning of Ramadan

SadaNews - The Israeli occupation forces have arrested more than 100 citizens from the West Bank since the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan, including women and children, in addition to former prisoners.

The Palestinian Prisoners Club stated in a statement issued today, Sunday, that these arrest campaigns coincide with the announcement of the occupation to increase the pace of arrests with the beginning of Ramadan, and that recent settler attacks have provided a primary cover for the implementation of wide-scale arrest operations in the West Bank.

It pointed out that the arrests were distributed across the majority of West Bank governorates, including Jerusalem, which witnesses extensive arrest operations during Ramadan, most of which end with deportations from the Al-Aqsa Mosque. In addition, the occupation continues to escalate field interrogation operations, as part of a collective retaliation process targeting all segments of Palestinian society, affecting thousands since the start of the genocide. It is important to note that the mistreatment accompanying field interrogation operations is on par with the torture and abuse that accompany actual arrest operations.

It addressed a number of crimes and violations that consistently accompany arrest operations, including: severe beatings, organized acts of terror against detainees and their families, as well as widespread destruction and vandalism of citizens' homes, confiscation of vehicles, money, and gold jewelry, in addition to the destruction of infrastructure, demolition of the homes of prisoners' families, using members of their families as hostages, using detainees as human shields, and implementing field executions.

It noted that the occupation exploits arrests as a cover to expand colonialism in the West Bank, with the support of settlers who currently serve as the most important tool to impose a new reality in the West Bank, particularly after the decisions aimed at annexing the West Bank.

The Prisoners Club reaffirmed that all of the current crimes of the occupation represent an extension of the long-standing practices aimed at targeting the Palestinian presence and imposing more tools of repression, control, and surveillance. However, the only change since the beginning of the genocide war has been in the level of intensity of the crimes, whether those accompanying arrest operations or crimes against prisoners inside prisons and camps.

It emphasized that the occupation authorities are continuing to implement systematic arrest operations, which represent one of the most prominent historically established policies that they carry out daily against citizens, where the number of arrests in the West Bank has reached approximately (22,000) cases since the genocide began.
