The Guardian: Trump Administration Plans to Build Military Base Housing 5,000 Soldiers in Gaza

SadaNews - The British newspaper The Guardian reported today, Thursday, that documents and records it reviewed confirm that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump plans to build a military base in Gaza to serve as headquarters for 5,000 soldiers from various nationalities.

According to the documents, the complex will cover an area of about 350 acres and is planned as a base for a multinational force, which is part of the newly established Peace Council under Trump's plan to stop the war in Gaza.

The plans include establishing a military site in phases, which will be surrounded by 26 armored watchtowers mounted on trailers, a small arms range, bunkers, and a storage facility for military equipment needed for operations, all to be completely surrounded by barbed wire.

The Guardian indicated, citing a source familiar with the plan, that the contract document for building the military base was issued by the Peace Council and was prepared with the assistance of U.S. contracting officials.

President Trump announced on January 16 the formation of the "Peace Council" under his chairmanship, based on his announced plan to stop the war in Gaza, which was later adopted by the UN Security Council in Resolution 2803 issued on November 17, 2025, regarding the situation in the sector and post-war arrangements.

The Peace Council is expected to oversee the transitional management in Gaza, coordinate reconstruction efforts and international aid, provide its financial support, and contribute to transitional security arrangements and deploy an international stabilization force within the Gaza Strip, while supporting a broader political path for peace in the region.
